Hey everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was exhausting! I went to the second day of the Phil-Cosmetics Expo 2011 last Saturday. I had a lot of fun, bought some polishes and makeup from Sol of Digital Traincase, finally met Ela of Chic Centre, and met some of the nail art girls I see so often online. Saturday was the perfect day to go since there was a nail art competition held, sponsored by Chic Centre. I have TONS of pictures to show you, but for today let's have some glitterfest first.
I finally got my hands on the Tony Moly glitters that everyone is raving about! SM Megamall (where the Tony Moly store nearest to me is located) is about and hour or so away from where I live, but I still went there, heavy rains and all. It was all worth it! I have to warn you though: this is going to be pic heavy.
On to the pictures!
| From L-R: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Neptune, Jupiter |
This is GT01, aka Mercury.
Mercury has tons of square and round silver, gold, blue, and red glitters in a black jelly base. Here it shown without topcoat.
All gritty. Reminds of black jeans. IDK why.
And here it is with topcoat.
As you can see, one thick coat of Seche Vite is not enough for this one. By the time I was about to take the pics, I can hardly see any of the glossiness. Yes, two coats of topcoat are needed to satiate its thirst.
Here's GT02, aka Earth.
Earth, which is my favorite of the bunch, has very fine blue and silver glitter mixed with red iridescent glitter in a blue grey/ silver-y grey base. Looks like dark jeans without topcoat.
When I first saw swatches, Jupiter stood out the most for me. But as soon as I wore Earth, I knew there is no replacing my love for this one.
But it made me all giddy looking at this with topcoat.
Ah, yes, LOVE. Loved it so much, I decided to wear it to the expo. Beautiful.
Next is GT03, aka Mars.
Mars is packed with round, square, and hex glitters in brown, gold, orange, and blue all mixed in a copper-y/amber base.
Here it is all gritty without topcoat. I love its color. It's not something I would normally wear, but I found myself making a mental note to wear it as a full mani this week.
I think this has the most liquid formula of the five. Not complaining! I think what made it stood out is the addition of blue glitters. Stunning.
I loved it all the more with topcoat.
Hmm-mmmm. YUM. Reminds me so much of caramel-coated what-nots! It made me reach for chocolates, and I don't even have a sweet tooth!
Next is GT04, aka, Neptune.
Neptune has a green jelly base choked with round and square green, silver, and gold glitters; with a surprise dose of larger green hex glitters.
I think you could scrub yourself with all its grittiness without topcoat. hahahaha
Green is normally not on top of my list of favorites, but this one is calling out to me.
More so with topcoat.
So refreshing to the eyes.
And now, my first runner-up, GT05, aka Jupiter.
Purple jelly base+ round and square glitters in purple and orange +blue iridescent glitters---> what's not to love?
I love purple, but my little nieces went crazier than me over this one.
Yes, it does remind me a bit of a little girl's art project, with all its bright colors. Maybe that's why it came in second place in my favorites, even though purple=love for me.
Whew, that was awesome, wasn't it? Even though glitters make me crazy, I'm not too crazy about the removal process, that's why it took me two weeks before I finally got the courage to swatch these. Surprisingly, I never had any problems with taking it off. I did not even use foil. But yeah, I was extra careful and tried not to move the cotton around my nails.
Tony Moly’s Galaxy collection retails for ₱328 each and is available in Tony Moly stores in SM North Edsa, SM Fairview, and SM Megamall. Also available in Tony Moly counters in SM Department Stores in Davao, North Edsa, and Makati . There will also be a Tony Moly counter soon in SM Southmall (which is the nearest SM to me, but I couldn't wait that long). Visit Tony Moly Philippines’ website and like them on Facebook.

ReplyDeletewhoaaa love the purple and the orange (earth?)
ReplyDeletei just got a glitter polish and was surprised by the jelly base, but i'm glad to know that's normal.
These glitters are so awesome and definitely on the wishlist <3.
ReplyDeleteI'm SO IN LOVE with these colours, I bought all of them and I keep wearing them over everything. I love how matte they apply and also how opaque. They're the perfect polish to keep [safely] in my bag in case something chips I just slap a coat of Tony Moly over it to protect from a nail break. I'm addicted, hahaha!

@ToyomiThey really are! <333
ReplyDelete@Jenn Staz the amber/orange one is Mars, and that's my NOTD. :D Yes, usually they use a clear base or a jelly base (if the base is pigmented). What glitter polish did you get? :)
ReplyDelete@Deborah yay, go for the online hunt! i think some of the girls got theirs off ebay. ;)
ReplyDelete@dailypolish they're hypnotizing! I use three thin coats, and i love how smoothly they apply. i did not even have to clean up after application! I love their brushes too.
